Architecture photography that serves the people who create, develop, and manage built environments
Photon-crag emerged from recognition that architectural photography requires specialized expertise distinct from general commercial photography. Buildings present unique challenges: scale, perspective control, varying light conditions, access constraints, and the need to accurately represent three-dimensional space in two-dimensional images.
Our methodology combines technical precision with interpretive vision. We document what architects designed and builders constructed, while also revealing how spaces function and feel. This dual focus serves both practical documentation needs and marketing objectives.
Professional architectural photography depends on specialized tools. Our equipment inventory includes tilt-shift lenses for perspective correction, full-frame sensor cameras for maximum resolution and dynamic range, and calibrated lighting systems for interior work. Aerial capabilities utilize licensed drone operations with stabilized gimbal systems.
Technical specifications matter because they determine what can be accurately captured. A standard lens cannot correct converging verticals. Consumer cameras lack the dynamic range to balance bright windows against interior shadows. These limitations aren't overcome through post-processing—they require proper equipment from capture.
Each project begins with understanding intended usage. Marketing materials require different compositions than technical documentation. Portfolio presentations emphasize design decisions, while construction progress reports prioritize chronological consistency.
Site visits are scheduled considering optimal lighting conditions. Exterior photography typically occurs during golden hour or blue hour depending on building orientation. Interior sessions accommodate site access, occupancy patterns, and the time needed for proper lighting setup. Drone operations require suitable weather and regulatory clearance.
Deliverables are provided as high-resolution digital files with specified usage rights. Standard licensing permits commercial use by the client for marketing, portfolio, and documentation purposes. Images are color-corrected, perspective-adjusted, and optimized for both print and digital reproduction.
Architectural photography occupies a space between documentation and interpretation. While we enhance images through proper exposure, color correction, and perspective adjustment, we do not fundamentally misrepresent structures. Sky replacements may be used for dramatic effect, but the building itself is captured as built.
Client confidentiality is maintained for sensitive projects including private residences and pre-launch developments. Images are not published or shared without explicit permission. When portfolio usage is required, this is specified during initial project discussions.
We maintain professional liability insurance and comply with all relevant safety regulations including working at height, drone operation licensing, and site-specific security requirements. Risk assessments are completed before commencing work on construction sites or restricted access locations.
Whether documenting a completed structure, tracking construction progress, or creating marketing materials for property development, we provide photography services matched to specific project needs.
